I am working from home today. This means balancing an infant in my lap during conference calls — and working on my laptop in the backyard while the toddler plays with his water wheel toy (and the dog sits on my feet.) It means muting my phone during meetings to “hush, hush” the baby — and looking up from the computer every few minutes to acknowledge the creation little man has made out of sticks. It means checking email while giving baths. And making breakfast while listening to voicemails. And kissing boo-boos while scheduling meetings.
And in the delicate balance of being both mommy and employee, I always know which role is most important.
And I bet you can guess which it is.
