I was going to write a blog post that began with this sentence today:
There are two organized institutions in the world where people suit up and confront opponents — while their respective fans cheer for their side and hackle the other: sports & politics.
It was going to be a thoughtful take on why both have a lot of talkers, Monday Morning Quarterbacks and pageantry. It was going to talk about how people get so emotionally involved that they often lose site of important issues. It was going to be… boring.
I realized this somewhere into the third sentence.
And so, I will talk about the squirrel outside my window that is enjoying the rain.
He looks as if he just stepped out of the shower with a matted, wet tail and a slicked-back coat. He probably smells of Herbal Essence.
I expect that he would be quite happy if I gave him some cozy, rodent-sized Christmas pajamas and a let him come inside to watch the Food Network.
And that is a meaningful blog post.
